Well I gave the art shows a try and really have to say I'm not sure it is for me. Traveling then setting up and then selling is all very work intensive and a gamble too. I feel like my only successful show is the Celebration of Fine Art in Scottsdale AZ. I can work and sell and build clients, it proven and works. The two years I have done shows all summer I would do well at some and poorly at others. I'm not into doing all that work unless I am making bank and that just isn't the case. So I have put some work into a few galleries and am taking the year to relocate to the Phoenix AZ. In the meantime, I am investigating some other avenues to sell. I will do a few local shows early this summer in Utah and then am looking forward to getting commissions from the Colorado Galleries who are displaying pieces to take orders off of.

Fall fall falling
I have been on the marketing tip. The books I'm reading are Taking the Leap and I'd rather be in the studio. Today I spent the whole day setting up my Newsletter, the hardest part is punching in all the emails. I went with icontact for a year, even though many of the artist are using FineArtStudioOnLine, which is a great site if you want one stop shopping. I didn't want my site to look uniform and this way ended up being less expensive.

I finished a new painting inspired by my Telluride trip of some awesome aspen. http://www.melissabehr.com/index.html
My next show is in Beverly Hills. I love to go there and see all my peeps. Making money is a plus. Affair in the Gardens is Oct 16 and 17 between Beverly and Cannon off Santa Monica Blvd. Booth 231 which is weird cause that is also my booth at the Celebration. Hope its a good omen. I have done that show a few years back and slowly the cash dwindled. But I have a great spot, so well see. The Art Chicks van will sure be loaded up, I've got a new pack of Meditation Series and some big'uns! Peace, Love, and a new one.. abundance, check em out, scroll to the bottom!

Prep
Just prepping, trying to get ready for the Celebration of Fine Art. I have gathered some work as a direction and now have started to make additional pieces for a cohesive show. I still will be doing one more Park Silly show Labor Day weekend, weather permit. I will also be featured artist of the month of September for Peak Art and Frame in Kimball Junction, Park City in the Wal-Mart Center. I also applied to the Beverly Hills show in mid Oct and am waiting to hear about acceptance. I did the Telluride show and the mid sized abstracts and meditation series were a success there. I have magnets of my work and they have been selling good for me. Telluride was so beautiful, I'm working on some tree pieces that were inspired from the aspen there. So now back to the studio!

Summer
The summer shows are going well. I had a great show in San Diego, Art Walk was very busy. I sold a group of the meditation series and a butterfly piece. I also sold my wolf piece and got two commissions after the show. Utah Arts Festival was about the same as last year, lots and lots of small stuff. I loved my location under a shade tree! I sold a new tree piece that was experimental and I sold two of the meditation series. I have been very busy doing commissions this year. I have done two Park Silly Sundays. There I have had success with the hand made tee shirts and prints. I did sell a few originals. My next adventure is Telluride I have never been there and look forward to a successful show. Please go to my site for details. www.melissabehr.com and also I can be found on FACEBOOK at Melissa Behr's Art.
Peace

Show's Over
There was fun and success in the sun, on a personal and business level. This was my fifth year doing the Celebration of Fine Art and this was the most enjoyable time down there yet. I loved my fellow neighbor artists this year, the weather was perfect for selling and our accommodations were the best yet. On the sale end it was not my best show, but close. I picked up quite a few new clients and sold on of my favorite pieces to a collector who bought from me last year. The day after the show I went to one of my friends new business office and he got four paintings, three of them new work I had finished at the show. This week I had a show hangover for a few days and now that I finished my taxes I'll be working on getting the studio back together so I may create a few new pieces to take to the Art Walk San Diego on April 24 and 25.

Celebration time
Well all the paintings are ready to go to Arizona for my fifth year at the Celebration of fine art in Scottsdale Arizona. I have wrapped up all my sales for christmas and now it's time to pack the artchicks van. I'm concerned about a storm headed this way. I have never used a trailer before but last year I barely got stuff all in, there was a futon and my desk bungied on top of the van, it was full on Beverly Hillbillies. We work at the show, 7 days a week from 10 to 6. It is great working ten weeks straight, I'm usually able to produce as much as I sell. So the goal is to have lots of new work for the summer shows and the financing to do that. The goal is set high this year, no time for a normal job!!!!
